Nestling high up in the Knysna lagoon hillside, in the heart of the Garden Route, Brenton Hill offers luxurious self -catering accommodation, comfort and spectacular views. It is surrounded by 22 hectares of indigenous fynbos and forest and basks in panoramic views of the Outeniqua mountains, the famous Knysna oyster beds and the yachts at the Knysna Quays.

Relax and enjoy the stunning environment with bushbuck, caracal and an abundance of birdlife including the fish eagle and the Knysna Loerie.

Knysna offers a temperate climate and on those warm summer days Brenton Hill is the ideal location where our residential guests can relax on a sun lounger by the pool or take a 2 minute drive to the idyllic Brenton on Sea and walk along the beach to Buffels Bay. We are ideally located for whale watching in the winter and spring months.

Appointed to a luxurious standard with all the facilities of modern life from powerful showers to blissfully comfortable beds, your stay here will be wonderfully comfortable and relaxing in the tranquil surroundings one expects from a stay on the Garden Route.

Eagles Nest
Eagles Nest sleeps up to six guests plus cot and makes ideal family accommodation near both Brenton on Sea beach and the Knysna lagoon.
The Eagles Nest provides spacious self-catering accommodation with a master double bedroom with en-suite bath and shower and a second double bedroom. There is a further twin-bedroom ideally suited for children being adjacent to the open plan living area. There is also a separate bathroom with shower only. The light and spacious open plan kitchen and living area leads onto a large private lawned garden which is fully enclosed and provides a stoep and braai facilities as well as outside tables, chairs and umbrella with stunning views overlooking the Knysna Lagoon.

Weavers Nest
Weavers Nest sleeps up to 6 guests and offers self-catering accommodation ideal for both families and small groups travelling together. The Weavers Nest offers 3 double bedrooms all of which are en-suite with showers and can be presented with either twin or superking size double beds.
There is a separate fully equipped kitchen/dining area leading out onto a private enclosed garden with stoep, braai facilities, outside tables, chairs and umbrella. All rooms have breathtaking views overlooking the Knysna lagoon and direct access to the private lawned garden.

Oystercatcher
The Oystercatcher sleeps up to 2 guests. The luxurious light studio can be presented with either twin or superking size double bed and has a large en-suite with shower and bath. Leading from this main living area there is fully equipped kitchenette with double doors to the enclosed lawned garden with braai facilities The Oystercatcher has stunning views overlooking the Knysna Lagoon and to the Outeniqua mountains.

All our accommodation is fully equipped for all your self catering needs with television and DVD player and fully fitted kitchen.

All our residential facilities are totally private with exclusive use of the swimming pool. Residential guests are free to enjoy the facilities offered within Brenton Hill including the restaurant, children’s play area, shop and bar facilities, all just a short stroll away from the accommodation.

Residential guests and day visitors are welcome to enjoy the facilities at The Lost Plot, a beautiful natural setting with unspoilt outstanding views stretching across Knysna Lagoon towards the Outeniqua mountains.

Adults can spend some quiet moments taking in the beautiful scenery whilst the children can run free, enjoying the natural spaces or fly through the air on the foefie slide. For the smaller children, the fenced and gated jungle gym provides safe play area.

An ideal venue for parties where all are welcome. The Lost Plot is a relaxed venue you will want to come back to again and again.

  1. Take a guided tour in the Knysna Forests and explore the verdant world of author Dalene Matthee, who brought international acclaim to the area with her best-selling forest novels.
  2. Join us during our annual festivals; The Knysna Oyster Festival, Rastafarian Earth Festival, Pink Loerie Festival and Sedgefield Slow Food Festival. Brenton Hill is particularly strategically situated for the cycling event during the Knysna Oyster Festival.
  3. Soak up the sun at Coney Glen, Bollard Bay on Leisure Isle, the beaches of Brenton-on-Sea or Buffels Bay.
  4. Explore the rocks of the famous Knysna Heads, where Strandlopers (Beachcombers) frequented the caves many thousands of years ago.
  5. Take a boat cruise on the Knysna Lagoon.
  6. Visit Featherbed Nature Reserve via ferry.
  7. Go cycling on a number of mountain bike trails through the forests.
  8. Enjoy breakfast and/or lunch at some of Knysna's most popular restaurants overlooking the sea crashing through the Heads.
  9. Knysna is a whale watcher's paradise. Go whale-watching along the coast or take a boat trip between June and December to see, at close quarters, the antics of southern right and humpback whales which occasionally stray into the Knysna Lagoon.
  10. Visit the Millwood House and Old Gaol Museums, and explore the Millwood Goldfields and Materolli Mining Museum where old mining equipment of yesteryear can be seen.
  11. Take a stroll through Knysna CBD for a visit to one of many historic buildings.
  12. Enjoy a game of golf against the awesome backdrops of ocean and lagoon - Pezula and Simola are two of South Africa's finest and most famous golf courses.
  13. The area between Knysna and Sedgefield offers the best of most types of fishing: charter a boat for deep-sea fishing, or try your luck with rock, surf and fly-fishing.
  14. Visit the local breweries in the industrial area.
  15. Take a township tour to Judah Square, home to South Africa's largest Rastafarian community.
  16. Visit a local furniture/crafts factory.
  17. Go birding in the forests, fynbos and along the coast.
  18. Take one of the many hiking trails around Knysna and explore the forests.
  19. Visit some of the so-called "Big Trees" - magnificent Outeniqua Yellowwoods.
  20. Visit the Knysna Elephant Park.
  21. Visit Pledge Park Nature Reserve.
  22. Spend the day at Monkeyland and Birds of Eden, two separate sanctuaries situated next to each other.
  23. Take a horse ride along the Garden Route's famous beaches.
  24. Spoil yourself and go shopping at the Knysna Waterfront, the market in Main Street or the many street vendors selling memorabilia, clothing and curios.
  25. Take a tree-top tour through the canopy of the Tsitsikamma Forests.
  26. Go bungy jumping at Bloukrans, the world's highest bungy bridge!
  27. Spend the day exploring the world famous Cango Caves - about two hours drive from Knysna.
  28. Visit some of our private nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries to experience our wild animals such as lion, cheetah and elephant at close quarters.
